Location Overview

On May 1st, a heavy storm caused significant flooding in rural areas of Idlib and Aleppo, affecting 2,381 households across more than 33 ID sites i the rural areas of Idlib and Aleppo. Livestock deaths and crop damages have also been reported. Crop damages include wheat, barley, and cumin crops which are heavily relied upon as an income Source by locals, severely impacting their livelihoods. SARD is mobilizing to provide emergency relief to affected people and actively preparing the resources we have on hand.

Current Update

  • According to the CCCM Cluster, 33 IDP sites, with 12,630 individuals (2,381HHs) were affected by the flooding. Out of these, 204 HHs shelters were destroyed, 2,322 tents and unspecified household items damaged.
  • On May 3 and 4, SARD Emergency Response Team distributed NFI consisting of kitchen sets, bedding units, and hygiene kits in response to flooding for 58 households (393 individuals) in Abu Baker Camp in Batenta community, Idlib District.
  • On May 7, SARD Emergency Response Team distributed NFI consisting of kitchen sets, bedding units, and hygiene kits in response to flooding for 32 households (194 individuals) in Fidaa Camp in Martein community, Idlib District.
