An incredible scene took place in the United States where a bear dragged the body of a road accident victim into the woods.

A tragic road accident in Massachusetts, United States, revealed a rare and unexpected scenario, according to CBS News. On Sunday, May 5, state police reported that a bear allegedly dragged a victim’s body out of his car.

Daniel Ducharme, aged 31, lost his life following an accident on a Hatfield road. According to investigators, he was either completely or partially ejected from his vehicle, then dragged out of it by a bear.

The scene was discovered after another motorist alerted police when he noticed a wrecked car in the woods alongside the road. On scene, authorities then found a heavily damaged vehicle, with the lifeless body of Daniel Ducharme outside the vehicle, and a bear observed in the surrounding area. The animal had already left the scene when the emergency services intervened but indications suggest that the bear had contact with the victim.

The car rolled down an embankment before hitting several trees

However, the exact circumstances of the accident remain unclear and are under investigation. The victim was alone in the car at the time of the crash and police said he apparently lost control of his vehicle, hitting the guardrail several times before violently leaving the roadway. His car then rolled down an embankment before hitting several trees.

The town of Hatfield, Massachusetts is located in an area where black bears are present. There are more than 4,500 individuals of this species in the state. Last March, wildlife officials warned residents that bears were emerging from hibernation and actively searching for food.
