Stade Brestois confirms on the second day

Only lively and enjoyable matches to follow during this second day of the Armor Festival in Plougonvelin (Finistère), this Sunday, May 19. In the U17 category, the results only confirmed what we had seen the day before. A doubt still remained as to the possibilities of the Brestois to put themselves at the level of other teams performing well during the first matches like OGC Nice. The response was scathing. The Niçois scored the first goal and competed with the Brestois for a good quarter of an hour but subsequently the Bretons equalized and left no more space for the Riviera. First of all on a penalty taken by Mathis Lainé who took justice into his own hands and on a second goal by this same player on the lookout for a cross from the left. The rest was just a formality, especially as Stade Brestois increased the gap on the scoreboard.

The good performance of Fougères

If there was no suspense, during this first quarter-final it was not the same for the rest. Against Paradou Athletic Club, the Lorientais won by the smallest margin. The Algerians, who played very lively the day before, visibly lacked athletic ability. Thus Lorient, winner of the tournament last season, can still claim the title even if Brestois are favorites. In the other quarter-final matches, there was uncertainty until the end of the penalty shootout. Which demonstrates the quality of the teams in the last four of the semi-final this Monday at the Trémeur stadium in Plougonvelin. “It’s a very good level. The clubs really brought in some great teams. This makes for some very interesting matches to play.”admitted Steven Marzin, the U17 coach at Stade Brestois.

In the U15 tournament there were not too many surprises in terms of accession to the quarter-finals which will take place this Monday from 10 a.m. We can note, however, the good performance of US Fougères which will compete tomorrow with renowned teams in terms of the work carried out with young people. In any case, this 40th edition of the Armor Festival has already gained the interest of a very large audience during these first two days. This is promising.
