A place to cry

Zaho de Sagazan has a bedside book, it’s Learn to philosophize with Montaigne : “It’s a book that teaches me to love life when sadness, fear and anxieties come to caress me for a little too long, Montaigne teaches me to rediscover desire and curiosity. » There is also a sentence that Zaho de Sagazan finds magnificent and it is from Nietzsche; “I can’t tell the difference between tears and music”: “I feel like I discovered music because I needed to cry and I found another place than my pillow which is the piano and indeed, there is this notion of crying which I find obvious. Sometimes I manage to make music other than by crying and I believe that when I cry, that’s when I make the most beautiful songs because that’s when they are the most true. »

Four Music Victories

The tears and sensitivity of Zaho de Sagazan touched the whole of France at lightning speed. At only 24 years old, she left last February with four Victoires de la Musique for her first album. The Symphony of Lightning in the categories Original Song, Best Album, Stage Revelation and Female Revelation: “I came back down very quickly because I tend to think about what I have to do in the moment, and there was still a lot of work. »

His exceptional concert with the Radio France Philharmonic Orchestra

Zaho de Sagazan will perform several festivals this summer including Art Rock in Saint Brieuc, Les Francofolies de Montréal, but also La Rochelle, Les Eurockéennes de Belfort and Dour, but before that, she will deliver an exceptional concert this evening for France Inter accompanied by the Radio France Philharmonic Orchestra, under the direction of Dylan Corlay. A great opportunity to revisit his album: “It’s completely different from my album since it will be played by 38 musicians. This gives a film music dimension to my songs. It is also a complicated exercise, because everything was arranged differently. I must have done 400 concerts, and now I feel like a beginner, because I lose all my codes with this configuration. It requires a lot of listening to play with an orchestra, it’s not like electronic music where there is a tempo. There, everything is moving, you have to listen to them and that’s what’s wonderful too. »

“It’s a hard flame to tame sensitivity, but it’s worth it”

The 24-year-old singer moved people with her sensitivity, which for her is as much a quality as a flaw: “It’s always a mix of both. Sensitivity is hard to deal with. She can do wonders at the same time, but also disasters. Indeed, at one point in my life, I only saw these bad sides because I think they were expressed in an uninteresting way. It’s a hard flame to tame, sensitivity, but it’s worth it. »
