A serious car accident occurred on Monday May 6, 2024, in Pomponne (Seine-et-Marne). The victim, a 26-year-old woman, was treated in serious condition. The police requested an expert opinion to determine the speed at which the driver was traveling.

He was not yet 5:30 a.m. when a car driving on rue du Général Leclerc in Pomponne hit a pedestrian. The light was relatively low and the driver of the Renault Clio had just passed an intersection. The light was green. The young woman was crossing a little further, outside the pedestrian crossing.

The victim suffered multiple fractures

An ambulance dispatched by the firefighters, who were engaged very quickly, was able to take care of the victim. She suffered from more than a dozen fractures on all the body. Medical transport was arranged and the young woman was taken to Henri Mondor hospital, in Val-de-Marne. At the time, his vital prognosis was in jeopardy. At the time of writing, his condition has been stabilized.

The national police, also present to carry out the findings, carried out a check on the driver. The man, aged 25, is a resident of a neighboring town. THE screenings tested negative for alcohol, but positive for THC. Other analyzes are underway, because samples taken on site may reveal old traces. These must therefore make it possible to know whether the man was actually driving under the influence of drugs.

Expertise required to assess speed

An assessment of the vehicle was also requested in order to determine the speed at which the vehicle was traveling. A testimony as well as the injuries of the victim, who was projected 15 metersmay suggest that it was higher than the authorized speed.

The driver, taken into custody after the accident, was released late Monday. He was also in lack of driving license. Holder of a Dominican license, but resident in France for 3 years, he has not taken the steps to obtain the French equivalent.
