On April 24, two men were indicted for having hacked the telephone subscriptions of the Lyon police for an SMS scam. 42,000 euros were seized during a search of the home of one of the suspects.

It was impossible for them to know that the target of their hacking was the Lyon police. Two men, arrested on April 22, are accused of having hijacked the telephone subscription management system of the Interregional Directorate of the National Police (DIPN) of Rhône.

It was at the end of March that the police realized that the access codes to the administrative accounts had been changed by the two individuals, in order to order SIM cards.

The latter would have allowed the accused to carry out SMS scams, report our colleagues from 20 minutes.

The two suspects arrested

A total of 42,000 euros were seized during a search, once the two scammers were identified. One of them was able to be arrested thanks to one of the phones used for the scams, found by the police. Already known to the police for similar acts, he was placed in police custody.

His accomplice denies any involvement. The two men were indicted and placed in pre-trial detention on April 24.
