The riders of this 107th edition of the Tour of Italy will set off this Tuesday from Acqui Terme to reach Andora after 190 kilometers, passing through Savona. Which takes the peloton from Piedmont to Liguria, via the Riviera, a magnificent coastline bordered by mountain ranges. The fictitious departure is scheduled for 12:30 p.m., the real departure at 12:35 p.m. The winner’s arrival is scheduled between 5:00 p.m. and 5:28 p.m., depending on average speed.

The stage is divided into two, with a sort of false flat which ends with a category 3 difficulty: the Melogno pass. Nothing insurmountable for the sprinters. However, this should allow a few adventurers to venture into a breakaway. The sprinters’ teams will be sure to increase the pace of the peloton on the second part of the stage, which consists of a descent to Savona, then 60 kilometers of flat ground towards Andora.

The favorites of the 4th stage

The sprinters are again favorites, given the immense probability that the stage will end with a mass sprint. Tim Merlier (Soudal-Quick Step) could do the double and sign a 9th victory since February. But Jonathan Milan (Lidl-Trek) will undoubtedly want to take his revenge. Olav Kooij (Jumbo-Visma) remains cited, especially after having reassured on Monday. Also to follow: Biniam Girmay (Intermarché-Wanty).

How to follow the race?

The Giro 2024 is broadcast on the Eurosport 1 channel, which will be on the air from 12:35 p.m. for the fictitious start of the 4th stage. You will also be able to follow this first stage of the Giro live on the RMC Sport website and application.
