A fatal fire broke out in Fegersheim, a town in Bas-Rhin with more than 5,000 inhabitants, this Friday, October 4. Firefighters arrived on scene shortly before 7 a.m. It was a bedroom fire, in a house with two apartments.
The victim is a 70-year-old man, extracted from the burning house by firefighters, but declared dead by the doctor on site after the assessment. “He was a person who was regularly seen walking the streets of the city center“, remembers Mayor Thierry Schaal. According to the councilor, his house was in a very residential area, and “not far from the way to school“, therefore on a fairly busy route. The fire required the mobilization of 23 firefighters to bring the fire under control.
