That’s it, the government’s fuel figures are finally in. While we noticed yesterday, thanks to Carbu.com, that the trend was downward at the start of the month, this was confirmed by figures from the Ministry of Ecological Transition.
The average prices of petroleum products for the beginning of May have indeed been published. Enough to prove a significant drop, particularly for diesel. That of essence, in its different forms, is indeed more timid.
Thus, diesel has just fallen below the €1.74/L mark. As of May 3, it actually cost €1.7399/L on average in the country, compared to €1.7521/L on April 26. Enough to get closer to 1.7227 €/L, the lowest established during the week of January 12.
The price of gasoline is falling timidly
Even more interesting, the price of gasoline is also falling. The latter has soared sharply since the start of the year. It’s decreasing, for once, which is a noticeable change. Still, from SP95-10 to SP98 via SP95, this is timid.
Thus, for the latter, the average price in France increased from €1.9365/L to €1.9325/L between April 26 and May 3. Its E10 version only decreased from 1.9042 €/L to 1.9009 €/L. For SP98, the current price is €1.9894/L, compared to €1.9918/L on April 26.
Although this decrease is interesting, the price remains far from the lowest observed this year. The week of January 12, this price was €1.7645/L. Another world, compared to what drivers now have to pay to fill their tank.
