There’s Paul Pogba again: doping penalty sharply reduced by 2.5 years, Frenchman can play football again in March

Light at the end of the tunnel for Paul Pogba. The Frenchman was suspended for another 4 years in February after a positive doping test, but is suddenly very close to a return. On appeal, the sentence was reduced to 18 months, meaning he can return to the field in March 2025.

Paul Pogba fans can get out their countdown calendar. The Frenchman could shine on a football field again within 5 months.

Punishment, because in February Pogba received a heavy suspension of 4 years. The star was exposed during a doping test, which revealed the use of synthetic testosterone. That is a muscle strengthening agent.

According to the French midfielder, the positive test was due to a dietary supplement prescribed to him by a doctor in the United States.

After the conviction, Pogba announced that he would appeal, but then completely disappeared from the spotlight of the football world.

Until today, anyway. Because the Frenchman has returned completely out of nowhere. On appeal, his sentence was reduced from 4 years to 18 months. The counter started running in September 2023, after the positive test.

This means that Pogba can suddenly dream of his return again. From January he can train again with Juventus, and he can return to action in March.

Let’s wait and see whether the former superstar can still make jaws drop just like before.
