The regions put in place additional aid for their students. Here is what you can benefit from in Ile-de-France.

Driving license check, assistance for apprentices, merit or mobility… The Île-de-France region offers several schemes to young people and students. L’Etudiant details the six financial aids dedicated to you.

1. A back-to-school bonus for young apprentices in Île-de-France

The IDF region offers a re-entry bonus for the purchasing power of apprentices (regional aid for entry into apprenticeship / ARA). It relates to students entering the first year of learning. “Aid for apprentices excludes schools and universities. This is a support measure for very young apprentices and not for student apprentices who benefit from other aid elsewhere (housing action, APL, activity bonus …). Aid for apprentices was created to remove obstacles to entry into apprenticeship training, and in particular the purchase of educational materials or even mobility,” specifies the region.

Young people with a pre-baccalaureate or baccalaureate level are the priority audiences for this aid because they are the furthest from employment. Depending on the Île-de-France region, they therefore need more measures to lift the brakes. The amount of aid is therefore higher for BEP, CAP and bac pro: their premium amounts to 375 euros. BTS and DEUST students receive 115 euros.

It is the training organizations that submit the request, you therefore have no action to take. Once the aid has been validated, you will receive it in the form of a transfer complementary to your remuneration under the apprenticeship contract.

2. “Driving license check” for 18-25 year olds

Young people aged 18 to 25 in training or looking for work can receive up to 1,300 euros to finance their B license. Since September 2022, you no longer have to advance money, the driving schools being paid directly by the region.

To request the driving license check you must submit an application on mesdemarches.iledefrance.fr by providing these documents (online application form, valid identity document, signed training contract or certificate of registration with Pôle emploi).

It is the Docaposte Region service provider who will tell you whether your file is admissible or not.

If agreed, you will receive a “Driving license check” (dematerialized, nominative and valid for 12 months) worth 1,300 euros, composed of three coupons of 300 euros, 500 euros and 500 euros. A sum which should cover a good part of the costs, since getting your license costs on average 1,800 euros, according to a study carried out by the consumer association Que Choisir. A price which varies, however, depending on where you will take the license, as well as the number of hours you will need.

You will then need to give the check to the Ile-de-France driving school of your choice. Please note, this must be affiliated with the network of partner driving schools in the region or affiliate at that time via Docaposte.

You can immediately start your driving license training.

3. 1,000 “student mentor” contracts in 2024

The Île-de-France Region has also open 1,000 student mentor contracts within universities, for the first time during this 2023-2024 academic year.

Your mission : supporting students in their work to combat academic failure. These contracts are paid at the hourly minimum wage. This is therefore a small job opportunity, but in the academic field.

The contracts offered are minimum 250 hours for the academic year (10 months) to guarantee a salary of 2,100 euros net. They can last up to 670 hours. The region thus wanted to avoid very short contracts or very short hours. The salary for the shortest contracts, however, remains low for one year, it is more of an extra.

4. Access to culture and sport

You can also benefit fromaid for culture, sports practice and health. The region has created the LABAZ mobile application for young people aged 15 to 25.

You will find help and good deals : check for 100 euros for access to culture and sport, aid for the purchase of a bicycle (up to 400 euros for an electric bicycle), and good sports and culture deals such as tickets for events sportsmen.

Moreover, 30,000 places for the Olympic and Paralympic Games are also offered by lottery.

5. Merit-based aid for those with very good marks in the baccalaureate

If you obtained the grade “very good” in the baccalaureate, you live in Ile-de-France and you are on a scholarship, you are eligible for merit aid of 1,000 euros.

No steps to take, you will receive merit aid directly into your accountfrom the Crous de Paris or the region.

6. Assistance with international mobility

Finally, the Île-de-France region offers students a international mobility assistance during your studies. The aid is between 250 euros and 450 euros maximum per month for a stay of one to ten months.

Assistance is open to students registered in initial training of BUT course, license or master in a public higher education establishment. It is conditional on the student’s level of resources.

To apply, contact the international relations department (SRI) or scholarships of your establishment.
