La-Ville-aux-Dames: a gas explosion in an HLM, a 78-year-old woman seriously burned

The explosion took place around 2 a.m., in a building managed by Touraine Logement, at 18 rue Marie Laurencin, in La-Ville-aux-Dames. It was a resident, living on the ground floor of the building, who was awakened from her sleep by the smell of gas. By reflex, she turned on the light, so she could see what was happening, and the spark caused the explosion. The violence of the explosion gutted his apartment, shattering the windows and their frames and tearing down one of the interior partitions. Inside, the septuagenarian is seriously burned. She was evacuated by emergency services.

Evacuated in the middle of the night

All the residents of this three-story building, located in the heart of the town, were evacuated while firefighters assessed the risk of collapse. According to the mayor, Alain Bénard, it has already been noted that the two other families living on the ground floor will be rehoused. As for the rest of the tenants, installed on the second and third floor, they have just returned to their accommodation. The SDISD 37 expert mobilized on site concluded that the building is not in danger of falling.
