Since the closure of part of the A13 in Saint-Cloud on April 18, the collateral damage extends to Normandy where carriers must pay the price.

After three weeks of interruption, this May 11, part of the A13 closed due to “cracks” should reopen to traffic. Only part since it will only concern the province-Paris direction on this date. Not enough to bring a smile back to Ile-de-France drivers, nor… to Normandy transporters. In fact, the latter, many of whom come to get supplies in the Paris region, for example in Rungis, must do with extended travel times or even use the A14 motorway, which is chargeable.

Dedicated aid from the government?

And if since Monday, May 6, the A14 toll has been covered at 50% by the State under certain conditions, Stéphane Cauchy, the secretary general of the European Road Transport Organization (OTRE) Normandy and Pays de Loire, said the wish for measures dedicated to road transport professionals: “We also want to take into consideration the difficulties and impact for road transport. We hope that government assistance will be put in place. In what form ? I leave it to the executive to make proposals to us, but why not free tolls on the A14?” A measure which has almost no chance of succeeding.
