“She was confident in everyone’s wealth.” For those close to her, it is this formula – due to a friend – which best expresses what her personality was. Musician, teacher, teaching executive and figure in Basti community life, Marie- Boulanger passed away a few days ago following an illness.

Born in in 1953 into a family of traders, she studied musicology in . Graduating from Capes in 1975, she soon returned to Corsica and began a career in teaching. In 1978, after a few months in the public sector, she joined the teaching staff at the Jeanne d’Arc boarding school. In 2002, she took over the management of this Catholic establishment under contract. She will keep it until her retirement in 2014. “He was someone deeply human, always listening, whose office was always open, confides José Massei, the current director of the boarding school. With her blue eyes, her soft voice and her smile, she knew how to ease all tensions, resolve all conflicts.”

From her unions with Alain Venturi then François Tatti, Marie-France Boulanger had three children: Jean-Luc, Frédérique and Amélie. She was also a grandmother twice over.

In the organization of Musicales since 1987

Marie-France Boulanger will also have left her mark on community life in Bastia. A pianist and great opera lover, she was part of the organizing team of the Musicales de Bastia since their creation in 1987. “Besides her dedication and seriousness, what characterized Marie-France was her kindness towards everyone and her contagious good humor, which gave the work something light and pleasant, remembers Raoul Locatelli, the founder of the event. And these are not just casual words: those who knew her well or who simply encountered her at a concert would tell you exactly the same thing.”
