A retired couple was mowed down by a car on Wednesday October 2, 2024 in the middle of the day at the entrance to the village of La Meignanne near Angers in Maine-et-Loire, according to Agence France Presse.
The deceased woman was 78 years old and the man was 81 years old.
The two pedestrians were on the side of a road when they were hit by a car.
The driver had her 8-year-old child on board with her, the Angers public prosecutor, Éric Bouillard, told AFP.
The two occupants of the vehicle were not injured, according to the same source.
Alcohol and drug tests on the driver were negative.
The precise circumstances of the accident are not known at this stage.
