Formula 1 | Miami Grand Prix: The F1 Sprint live

It’s time for the first of two races of the weekend in Miami, with the F1 Sprint. This is the second in a row after that of the Chinese GP, out of the six planned for this 2024 Formula 1 season.

Max Verstappen starts on pole for this little race ahead of Charles Leclerc, then Sergio Pérez and the astonishing Daniel Ricciardo, very lively yesterday. Carlos Sainz is fifth ahead of Oscar Piastri, then Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso.

Lando Norris was fastest in SQ1 and SQ2 but missed his final lap and started ninth, ahead of the metronome Nico Hülkenberg, again in SQ3. The Mercedes drivers disappointed with an elimination in SQ2, George Russell is 11th and Lewis Hamilton 12th.

Then we find Esteban Ocon, Kevin Magnussen, Yuki Tsunoda, Pierre Gasly, Guanyu Zhou, Logan Sargeant, Valtteri Bottas, who received a three-place penalty for hindering Piastri, and Alex Albon, who starts from the pits because his team has made changes to the Thai’s FW46 since yesterday, under Parc Fermé regime.

5:49 p.m.: Following contact in the pits with Leclerc when joining the grid, Ocon received a 10-second penalty which will be added to his time at the end of the Sprint, if he makes no pit stop.
