This summer again, the town’s natural spaces did not suffer any fires despite the very dry month of August. The end-of-season meeting made it possible to highlight the effectiveness of the action of the municipal forest fire committee and to consider the future. In June, three volunteers carried out awareness sessions with CM2 schoolchildren in Murviel and Saint-Paul-et-Valmalle. During the summer, 37 volunteers monitored the woods and scrubland. Comparing with what happened nearby, this is an observation which reinforces the interest of their action.
After alerting the firefighters for fires located outside the commune, informing and raising awareness among users of rural roads was the most important action for the CCFF this year. This fall they will look into the prefectural decree prohibiting all traffic, motorized or not, on days of very severe fire risk in certain forest areas. The prefecture’s website will display these bans next summer in the form of a color-coded map, with red representing the ban. The Murviellois woods being included in the Causse d’Aumelas massif – hills of Mourre, the installation of information panels with QR code concerning this regulation will occupy them until spring.
