A fire left two people injured, one seriously, Tuesday afternoon in La Chaux-de-Fonds. The fire started at 2e floor of a residential building on rue Jacob-Brandt. The tenant of the accommodation suffered serious burns. His vital prognosis is in jeopardy. She found refuge on her balcony before being rescued, then finally airlifted to a university in Vaud.
Another person was transported to La Chaux-de-Fonds hospital after being bothered by smoke. A third person was checked on site. However, one cat did not survive the disaster. “The tenants of the building whose accommodations suffered damage due to the disaster have all found a temporary accommodation solution,” indicate the Neuchâtel Police and the Public Prosecutor’s Office in a joint press release.
The alarm was raised around 2:30 p.m. and the fire was brought under control around 3 p.m. A major device has been deployed on the site. Five police patrols, around twenty firefighters, three ambulances, the Smur, as well as Chaux-de-Fondnière Public Security agents were mobilized. An investigation has been opened to try to determine the circumstances of this fire. /comm-sbm-vco
