FC Barcelona have set midfielder Marc Bernal’s release clause at 500 million euros and extended the 17-year-old’s contract until June 2026, the La Liga club announced on Monday.
In 2026, when he is no longer U19, Bernal will have the option to extend his contract for three more years, according to the club.
Bernal ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament during Barca’s 2-1 win over Rayo Vallecano last month, where he had to leave the field in the final minutes.
Already 3 first team matches
A product of FC Barcelona’s famous youth academy, Bernal has made three league appearances since making his first-team debut in the La Liga season opener against Valencia.
“Until his unfortunate injury, Marc Bernal was the big revelation at the start of the season,” Barça said in a statement on Monday. After joining coach Hansi Flick for the pre-season, the German boss was convinced he was ready to take the next step. The club believes he represents a fabulous investment for the future and this belief is reflected in the agreement reached today. »
