For the first time in his career, Jake Gyllenhaal plays the lead role in a series. He plays a prosecutor accused of murder in the new adaptation of “Presumed Innocent”, the trailer for which has been revealed.

Jake Gyllenhaal is taking to the small screen to Presumed Innocent

For his new series, the famous screenwriter David E. Kelley chose to adapt one of Scott Turow’s novels, Presumed Innocent. A chief deputy prosecutor named Rusty Sabich is at the center of the plot. When a woman is found dead one day, he finds himself suspected of the murder after having an affair with her.

The role of Rusty Sabich was given to Jake Gyllenhaal. it’s about the first series in which he plays the title role. Ruth Negga, Renate Reinsve, Bill Camp and OT Fagbenle are also part of the cast. JJ Abrams was also involved in the development of Presumed Innocent as executive producer.

A rhythmic trailer for the show

A few weeks before the release of Presumed Innocent, Apple TV+ revealed the trailer for the series. We see the character of Rusty Sabich as he begins an affair with the future victim of the plot. The trailer then changes pace with frantic editing and an adapted soundtrack which raise the tension around the main protagonist.

According to the official synopsis of Presumed Innocent, the series explores different themes. To know “obsession, sex and the power and limits of love”. This same synopsis also reveals that, in the show created by David E. Kelley, Rusty Sabitch tries to “preserve the unity of one’s family and one’s marriage.”

Second adaptation of Scott Turow’s book

This is not the first time that Presumed Innocent is brought to the screen. Scott Turow’s best-seller has already been given a film adaptation, directed by Alan J. Pakula and directed by Harrison Ford. This was released in 1990. But the new version was therefore this time designed by television.

Eight episodes of approximately one hour make up the David E. Kelley series. All these episodes will happen next June 14 in France on Apple TV+.
