PRICE. The Gribouillis festival! de took place from September 12 to 15. On this occasion, two prizes and 1 selection were awarded: Gribouillis Comic Strip Prize, Gribouillis Youth Prize and Gribouillis Classic Prize. The first two are awarded a sum of 1000 euros. What are the results?

The winner is Brecht Evens for his work King Medusa boards of which are currently on display at the Pompidou Museum. An exhibition which brings painters into dialogue with comic book authors where we find both Calvo what Catherine Meurisse et Joan Sfar.

Published by Actes Sud, this comic strip, translated by Wladimir Anselm tells us “the story of a little boy, Arthur, who experiences a close relationship with his conspiratorial father. Living on an island, the two characters believe they are constantly observed by the “Leaders” and seek to participate in the resistance organized by the “Allies”. […] the album surprises with an extremely confusing style and aesthetic. Each page is constructed in a disruptive way, and the father-son relationship, both luminous and undermined in the background by depression, touches the reader as much as it questions him. » (Hippolyte Arzilliercolumnist at ActuaBD)

Finally, the Gribouillis Jeunesse Prize is won by Damien Poulain pour Birdspublished by Livre.

Each year, a reading committee brings together six specialized bookstores in and Belgium. These select 10 comics, 10 children’s albums and 10 classics. the most creative and original of the year » published between June 1, 2023 and May 30, 2024. From this selection, a network of independent bookstores in Bordeaux chooses the winners for the two competitive prizes.
