Carcassonne: near Lac de la Cavayère, a new health trail made up of eight modules is accessible to all

Four months after the first echoes of the project announcing the future creation of a health trail near Lac de la Cavayère, the last installations took place at the end of April. Eight modules are currently accessible by the decision of Carcassonne Agglo.

Athletes now have an additional place to train. At the end of April, near Lac de la Cavayère, new facilities are available: a health trail made up of eight modules aimed at promoting stretching and muscle strengthening.

Since 2020, users have been campaigning for the project to see the light of day. It was at the end of December 2023 that Carcassonne Agglo finally validated it, on the decision of President Régis Banquet who found the idea good and wanted to support it, the site belonging to him. The urban community speaks on the subject: “We are involved in a local health contract so we were keen to carry out this project. Even though four months have passed since validation, the installation was done quite quickly. We decided to prioritize everything wood to remain in harmony with the environment of the lake.”

“This health pathway will evolve in the coming months”

The equipment was ordered based on user requests. On site, athletes can find a parallel bar, a fixed bar, lateral jump or even a horizontal staircase. Once acquired, all the modules were installed in just a few days. If around ten were initially announced, Carcassonne Agglo warns: “This health trail will evolve in the coming months. As it is intended to be used all year round, users will quickly give us feedback on any shortcomings. For the moment, we are finalizing the signage. One last recommendation panel is planned for this Thursday, May 2.” If more facilities are available, then additional funding will need to be considered. So far, carrying out the work has cost Carcassonne Agglo €20,000.
