Mike Maignan will indeed be the best goalkeeper of the Euro.
Domenico Tedesco confirmed this Tuesday during a round table in front of German media that Thibaut Courtois will not be traveling to Germany for the next Euro. The Belgium coach and the emblematic goalkeeper have been in conflict since the summer of 2023 and the cuff-gate, while the goalkeeper was upset not to be named captain in the absence of Kevin De Bruyne. A few weeks later, Courtois ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and was sidelined for a long time. In December, he announced that he would give up the Euro because of this injury.
But the goalkeeper has been back in the Real Madrid group for a few days, was even on the scoresheet this Tuesday during the semi-final first leg against Bayern Munich (2-2). Nothing to call into question his non-participation in the next Euro therefore. “On this theme, everything has already been said. I don’t want to play ping pong. I am in tune with that”mentioned Tedesco, who wants to concentrate “on players who are in good shape”.
His door is ultimately not always open.
