Isabelle Perachonpostal advisor in La Roche-sur-Yon, considers her luck at having been chosen to carry the Olympic flame, Tuesday June 4, in the prefecture town of Vendée.
“There were 12,800 postal workers candidates, 140 were selected at the national level”, specifies the dynamic postwomanin the company since 1980.
She submitted her application in July 2022, without thinking that she could be selected. In Pays de la Loire, eight employees were chosen. “I think that my commitment as a volunteer within the ASPTT (Sports Association of Posts, Telegraphs and Telephones) guided their choice. »
All the torch bearers met in Paris, with the president of the La Poste group. “The ASPTT values of solidarity, sharing, conviviality, citizenship, I find them in the Olympism,” enthuses Isabelle.
The pressure is building
As June 4 approaches, the pressure mounts. “My family, my friends plan to be present on the course. »
She is physically ready, she runs regularly: “I am preparing the Royan half-marathon on May 25. » Even if the course is only 200 m, she wants to be ready and carry with dignity the values represented by the Olympic Games.
Isabelle plans to savor every meter. Without a doubt, the story of this day will be the subject of a beautiful letter to be opened and reread for many years.
