He tried really hard to avoid blowing into the breathalyzer. A 33-year-old man was arrested by the police this Saturday, December 23, after trying to escape a traffic stop. Finally arrested, the individual, a repeat traffic offender, was sentenced to a prison sentence.

As Le Parisien tells us, the suspect was spotted for his dangerous driving in the streets of Meaux (Seine-et-Marne) last Saturday. Chased and caught by the police, he then adopted strange behavior. While his vehicle was immobilized and the police asked him to get out to carry out the check, the driver actually refused and locked the doors of his car!

The police take him out of his car, he curls up on the ground

Fiercely determined to stay there, ignoring the police’s injunctions, the motorist continued to turn a deaf ear, until the officials decided to resort to extreme measures. The officers broke the window, opened the door and extricated the recalcitrant offender. He then curled up on the ground and the police used an electric shock gun to arrest him.

Obviously under the influence of alcohol, the individual then refused to take a blood alcohol test. Placed in police custody for the night, he finally accepted the test a dozen hours later, revealing a level of 1.14 grams of alcohol per liter of blood. In the process, the suspect was indicted for driving while intoxicated, but also for rebellion and refusal to submit to alcohol tests.

“When they arrested me, I was having a panic attack”

To make matters worse, the individual was already well known to the justice system before this prank, with 22 convictions appearing in his criminal record, most of which were for traffic offences. Due in particular to this background, he was ultimately sentenced to twelve months in prison, three of which were closed, for repeated drunken driving.

Released from the accusations of rebellion, the defendant tried to explain himself during the trial. “When they arrested me, I was in a panic attack, I was shaking, he declared on the stand. It had been two years since I had drunk (…) I wanted to slow down medication because I have a job in January but I slowed down too quickly I know I shouldn’t have done this I’ve been asking for treatment for two years but there’s no room. .” The Ile-de-France daily does not specify whether the court also imposed an obligation of care.
