May 5 – World Day of Prayer with and for Eastern Christians
May 5 – World Day of Prayer with and for Eastern Christians

Since 2018, the objective of this day is to stand in communion of prayer with all Eastern Christians: Syriacs, Copts, Maronites, Greek-Melkites, Romanian and Ukrainian Greek-Catholics, Ethiopians, Eritreans, Syro-Malankaras, Syrian- Malabars, Chaldeans, Armenians and Latins.

During the celebrations of the Easter season, Christians of the East and West are called to meditate on the Acts of the Apostles. They thus become witnesses to this first evangelization. These readings recall the origin of the Eastern Churches and the history of the first Eastern Christians, the very people who evangelized us. Today they resist on their lands to pass on this same faith to their children.

This day is about better understanding the origins of Christianity and meeting Christians from different Catholic Churches. The Christian communities of the East, for their part, will pray especially for France.
