The first of nine French people to enter the Accor Arena in Bercy for this UFC 2024, Nora Cornolle found Jacqueline Cavalcanti in the octagon. Her opponent who had already beaten her in 2021 won again by split decision.

No 100% success for the French. Nora Cornolle was the first to make her entrance this Saturday, September 28 in the boiling Accor Arena in Bercy for UFC Paris 2024. Acclaimed during her entry and presentation in the octagon, quite the opposite of her Portuguese opponent Jacqueline Cavalcanti who was greeted with boos, the Frenchwoman unfortunately lost by split decision (28-29, 29-28, 29-28).

A more delicate end to the fight

After a first minute of observation where Nora Cornolle launched a few low kicks in the left front leg of her opponent, the Frenchwoman then grabbed Cavalcanti continuing her work of sappe using knees and elbows, to then bring to the ground.

After losing the dominant position, the native of Épinay got up, but suffered the jabs of the Portuguese, with better reach. If this first round is tight, the second is much less so.

Connected by a rear arm from the Portuguese, Cornolle was manhandled, failing to break the distance. After 10 minutes of fighting, the instructions from her coaches were clear: “You stick her and you hit her”.

So in a third round where the Frenchwoman is obliged to win to hope for a decision victory, Nora Cornolle listens, but remains powerless in the face of Cavalcanti’s stricking. It is therefore a first defeat in the UFC for Nora Cornolle, which moves her away from the Top 15 in her under 61 kg category.
