This Saturday at 10:30 a.m., the small village of Faurie in the Hautes-Alpes was once again immersed in emotion and contemplation. The funeral of Paul Varrya 27-year-old cyclist killed on October 15 and originally from the Buëch valley, gathered a crowd of 300 people, their hearts tight around his loved ones. “I I will do my best to ensure that justice is done to you.“, declared his big brother, reminding us that the young cyclist was the victim of road violence, run over by an SUV driver in Paris on October 15. A murder investigation is underway targeting the 52-year-old motorist, placed in detention.
The young man's coffin was placed under a marquee, accompanied by music by a colorful fanfare, which came to break the silence of this ceremony of homage to the child of the country. He had been a schoolboy at La Faurie then a middle school student in Veynes and a high school student in Gap with a scientific baccalaureate in 2014, before joining École 42 in Paris, a higher education establishment dedicated to the training of IT developers.
In Paris, at 2 p.m.,Atelier Vélorution Bastille is organizing a bicycle demonstration on Saturday, November 2 in memory of Paul Varry, but also to denounce the motorized violence widely denounced since his death.
