A fire killed at least three people during the night from Monday to Tuesday, on Boulevard desItaliens, in the 2nd arrondissement of Paris. “Despite the rapid intervention of the firefighters, victims have unfortunately been reported”, indicates on X Ariel Weil, the mayor of Paris Center. Firefighters were called to flames located on the 6th and 7th floors of this building, mainly made up of offices.
According to the first information collected, the fire started in an apartment located on the 7th floor in the attic. The three victims were found in the apartment in question, trapped by the flames which set the stairwell ablaze, said Laurent Nunez, the police chief who went to the scene. Another person, injured, was taken to hospital in relative emergency. Two firefighters were also injured.
Significant resources were dispatched to the site, including 180 firefighters. Traffic was cut off in the area. For the moment, the origin of the fire is unknown according to Laurent Nunez. An investigation was opened and entrusted at this stage to the Paris Center police station, the prosecution told AFP.
Another fatal fire in the 15th arrondissement
Furthermore, another fatal fire broke out in the 15th arrondissement of Paris, specifies the public prosecutor’s office. “A person aged around sixty was found dead, another is in absolute emergency and two are in relative emergency”detailed the prosecution.
The deceased person is a woman, according to another police Source, who specifies that “the fire appears to have broken out” in his accommodation. An investigation into the causes of death and injuries was entrusted to the 15th arrondissement police station.
