At least four dead in two building fires

At least three people died in an apartment fire on Boulevard des Italians in Paris (II arrondissement) on the night of Monday to Tuesday, according to several sources. Another victim was seriously injured and taken to hospital in a state of absolute emergency. Three other people were less seriously injured, including two firefighters.

The tragedy took place on Boulevard des Italians, on the 6th and 7th floors. The fire broke out around 4:30 a.m. According to initial information, a gas leak was the cause of this fire. The bodies of the deceased victims were discovered shortly before 8 a.m. this Tuesday morning. Firefighters were unable to access the upper floors earlier as the stairwell was affected by the flames.

A large fire brigade was deployed for this intervention with around twenty vehicles on site. The mayor of Paris Center, Ariel Weil, thanked the firefighters for their intervention, on
“traffic will resume soon”and asks residents to“avoid the area”.

An investigation has been opened to determine the origin and circumstances of this tragedy. Police officers from the Center police station are responsible for investigations.

A woman died in a fire in the 15th arrondissement

Another fire broke out in a building in the 15th arrondissement during the night, at 32 avenue du Maine, at Place Bienvenüe, near Montparnasse station (15th), we learned News17. “A person aged around sixty was found dead, another is in absolute emergency and two are in relative emergency”, indicates the Paris prosecutor’s office. The fire apparently broke out in the sixty-year-old’s home. An investigation was also opened and entrusted to the 15th arrondissement police station.
