Bruno Retailleau urged the LR group in the National Assembly to table a motion of censure against the government “as soon as possible”.
“Either we don’t talk about it anymore” or “we do it,” he declared this Tuesday morning on TF1, while the Republicans have been threatening the executive for months, without taking action.
They have been asking for it for a long time, but it is long overdue. The Republicans have still not tabled a motion of censure to protest against the deterioration of public finances and the government’s economic policy. This Tuesday, April 30 in “Bonjour! La Matinale TF1”, the boss of LR senators, Bruno Retailleau, called on his colleagues in the Assembly, the only ones able to initiate such a procedure, to act. “I think we should not talk about it, as little as possible, but do it, as soon as possible”did he declare.
“I am a senator, I rely on the LR group in the National Assembly. But I think that either we no longer talk about it if we don’t want to do it, or if we talk about it then we do it”added the senator. “It’s not me who would appreciate [le bon moment] because once again, it is not the Senate which is able to vote on a motion of censure”specified Bruno Retailleau.
LR will only vote on a motion tabled by its group
Monday at the end of the budgetary “orientation debate” without a vote which opened the parliamentary re-entry at the Palais Bourbon after a two-week break, the National Rally issued an ultimatum to the government, indicating that if in 30 days it did not resign itself not present a amending finance bill, the party would table a motion of censure. LFI threatens the government with the same thing. Would LR, who had rather put his red line on tax increases after the European elections, vote for their texts? “The only motion of censure that we could vote on would be a motion of censure drafted and voted on by ourselves”decided the leader of the Les Républicains senators.
