Curtain call for Derrick Rose. The American player announced this Thursday, September 26, that he was ending his career at the age of 35. In a letter addressed to several newspapers, the athlete spoke about his love for basketball.

“You introduced me to new places and cultures that a kid from Chicago could never have imagined. You taught me that every loss was a lesson and every win was something to be grateful for. You gave me wisdom that wasn’t just about the game, but about life, discipline, hard work and perseverance.”Rose explained, speaking directly to the sport that has meant so much to his life. And he concluded: “You told me it was okay to say goodbye, reassuring me that you would always be a part of me, no matter where life took me.”

First overall pick in the 2008 draft, Derrick Rose quickly made the Chicago Bulls happy, becoming extremely quickly a player who counts in the NBA to the point that after only three seasons he was elected MVP of the season in 2011. At 22 years old, he thus became the youngest player to obtain this distinction, a mark which still stands.
