Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has been full of praise for Noussair Mazraoui ahead of the Moroccan’s Europa League debut.

Before his transfer this summer to Manchester UnitedNoussair Mazraoui had never played in the Europa League. Having successively played for Ajax and Bayern Munichthe international full-back Moroccan (29 selections, 2 goals) had in fact until now only distinguished himself in the premier competition for European clubs, the Champions League.

Before experiencing his baptism of fire in C3 this Thursday against Twente (1-1), a match during which he was one of the rare satisfactions of his team, the Lion of the Atlas had been boosted by his coach Erik ten Hag. The Dutch technician was impressed by the level of progress of his player, whom he had already worked alongside in the Netherlands between 2018 and 2022 and who was present at his side at the pre-match press conference.

« A better player than the one I had at Ajax »

“I know, let’s say I knew, how good a player he is, and I think he has improved a lot since his time in Germany. He is even a better player than the one I had at Ajax. His development as a player and as a person is huge and impressive. So I hope he continues in this vein.”said the 54-year-old coach.

In mid-August, on the eve of the 2024-2025 Premier League season, the former Utrecht coach already expressed his satisfaction at being reunited with the Atlas Lion, whose versatility he appreciates. “Noussair is a dynamic and attacking full-back who can play on the right or left of the defence. His experience and versatility will make him an excellent addition to our team. It is very difficult to put him under pressure, this can be very beneficial in English football”he had praised.
