The three men are all from Wuppertal (west). A former security guard working for Michael Schumacher’s family is said to have provided private information to the other two suspects, a father and son. Two hard drives and four USB sticks containing videos and photos, recorded after the legendary driver’s serious accident in 2013, are said to have been exchanged for a high price.

15 million euros ransom
The father and son then warned the Schumacher family that they were in possession of this private data. They demanded 15 million euros or they would release it on the “dark web”, the clandestine part of the internet.
The three suspects were arrested last June and July.
Since suffering a severe head injury in a skiing accident in December 2013 in the French resort of Méribel, seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher, now 55, has been receiving treatment at home. He spent nearly six months in an induced coma and virtually no information has been released since then regarding his condition.
