With its back against the wall after its defeat in Zurich, Lausanne fought back to offer itself a VII match! At home, the Lausanne team won 5-3 and will go to Zurich on Tuesday (8 p.m.) to try to collect the first title in their history.

Always beaten in Zurich during the middle thirds in this final, the Lausanne players this time took their revenge in resounding fashion by scoring four goals and chasing away goalkeeper Simon Hrubec after Jason Fuchs’ 4-0.

But the Vaudois built their success long before. Antti Suomela laid the first stone of the building by opening the score in power play in the 5th.

A sparkling line

During the 2nd period, it was the Riat-Fuchs-Kovacs line that came into focus. In the 27th minute, Damien Riat was able to beat Hrubec for a 2-0 which further freed the Vaudois and tensed up the Zurich residents. In the 33rd, Cody Almond – otherwise excellent – scored the 3rd, just to reward the valuable work of the 4th line. Two minutes later, Jason Fuchs chased Hrubec by signing the fourth success for the Vaudois.

Stung, Marc Crawford’s men responded by reducing the score at the very end of the period through Chris Baltisberger. With the energy of despair, the German-speaking Lions regained color with goals from Kukan (43rd) and Malgin (49th).
