Tl;dr

  • The trailer for Marvel’s “Thunderbolts” movie has just been released.
  • Florence Pugh reprises her role as Yelena Belova and Lewis Pullman plays a new character, Bob.
  • Bob is actually the Sentry character, with powers derived from a variant of the Super-Soldier serum.
  • The film also features other familiar Marvel characters, led by Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes.

The Thunderous Arrival of Marvel’s ‘Thunderbolts’

Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) have something to celebrate: the long-awaited trailer for the film “Thunderbolts” has finally been released.

Yelena Belova and a newcomer

This three-minute and twenty-four-second trailer reveals many surprises. Florence Pugh, who has already won over fans in her role as Yelena Belova, makes a notable appearance. But the main attraction is a certain Bob, played by Lewis Pullman, a new character for the MCU but a familiar face for some die-hard Marvel comics fans.

Bob is far from being a simple character. He turns out to be Sentry, a minor character in Marvel comics with major powers. Indeed, Sentry gets his powers from a variant of the Super-Soldier serum, the same one that gave Captain America his powers. Although Marvel has not officially announced Pullman as Sentry, they don’t exactly hide this identity in the trailer.

A team of misfits to face a common enemy

In addition to Pugh and Pullman, “Thunderbolts” sees the return of David Harbour as Yelena’s father, the Red Guardian, and the introduction of new characters such as Wyatt Russell as John Walker, Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster and Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost. This team of misfits will be led by Sebastian Stan, reprising his role as Bucky Barnes, aka the Winter Soldier. All of these characters have, by Yelena’s own admission, “done bad things,” but they will join forces to face a common enemy in “Thunderbolts,” due in theaters this May.
