The PS6 is once again in the news, especially because of its price, which is already worrying many gamers. We can expect the bill to be steep…

The next consoles from Sony and Microsoft could well reach a new level in terms of price. According to several analysts, the PS6 and the next Xbox could be sold at a fairly high price. A trend that seems inevitable if we observe the evolution of the prices of current consoles.

The PS6 has a high price?

In a recent interview, two industry experts, Mat Piscatella (Circana) and Rhys Elliot (Midia Research) shared their predictions about future consoles. They notably mentioned the price of the PS5 Pro, set at €699.99, and that of the Xbox Series X Galaxy Black edition, already at €600. For Piscatella, this price increase is not surprising. He explains that the American market, having become mature, no longer sees as many new players as before. As a result, manufacturers have to increase hardware prices to compensate for this stagnation.

Clearly, console sales growth could now depend on these price increases. If in the past a price of €599 for a console seemed unrealistic (as was the case for the PS3), today, consumers seem to have accepted these high prices. We saw this with the launches of the PS5 and the Xbox Series X.

Rhys Elliot, for his part, also believes that the PS6 and the next Xbox will sell for at least €600. He believes that Sony is already testing this pricing strategy with the PS5 Pro, to see how the market reacts. This approach allows the company to adapt before the launch of the next generation of consoles.

A bundle to make the pill easier to swallow?

Another interesting point is that Sony could boost the appeal of its consoles with bundles. For example, a PS5 Pro bundled with highly anticipated games like GTA 6 could boost sales. Sony has already used this strategy with the PS4 Pro, launching special editions for titles like Monster Hunter. So it’s likely that the same approach will be taken for future consoles.

Although the PS6 has not yet been officially announced, it is reportedly already in development. Backwards compatibility is expected to be a key feature of this new console, allowing players to continue enjoying their current games without having to buy everything new.
