Artus’ talents in terms of humor are well established. Early fans remember his three fruitful years on the set ofWe just want to laugh about it, between 2011 and 2014. On tour in 2024 and 2025, the native of is already on his sixth show (soberly titled One man show). The regulars of Dance with the stars had noted how well he did on the track, finishing on third place during season 7 in 2016 (even if he did not return). Three years later, Artus even tried his hand at presenting on the show It’s a piece of cake (on Netlfix). His role in The Legends Office then launched his acting career in the cinema. And this month of May 2024, he adds a new string to his bow by going behind the camera with the comedy A little something extra.

“I had this film in mind for ten years”confides Artus

A little thing in addition features a son (Artus) and his father (Clovis Cornillac) burglars who hide in a summer camp for adults with mental disabilities. They then pose as a resident and his specialized educator. Artus had had this project in the back of his mind for a long time. “For about ten years, I had in mind making a film with people we don’t often see on screen. I wanted to feature different people, with crazy worlds. The Eighth Day ( movie with Daniel Auteuil and Pascal Duquenne, editor’s note.) is almost 30 years old now!”he revealed during an interview with Tele-Leisure. Also a screenwriter, the comedian is really at the origin of this comedy with the false air of our happy days. “But the project was complex to finance. Producers told us: ‘People don’t want to see disabled people’. I was surprised that we were still there in 2023”.

A little something extra : “real people” rather than characters

A few days before the cinema release, Artus is not “no longer master of destiny” of his film, even if he would like “may it please”. He is also rather confident: “I did several screenings with the public and I got very positive feedback. The associations think, like me, that people with disabilities should not be treated differently. Some people don’t really know how to address them. And my goal is to change this perception.”. A little something extra can count on its very beautiful gallery of characters… who are not really characters, since it “it’s really about them in the vast majority”. Rather than choosing actors to fit his script, Artus adapted his story to these budding actors: “Arnaud, who is a fan of Dalida in the film, really is one in reality. Boris disguises himself all the time, and they are his people. Stanislas speaks like a politician in real life. Apart from a few exceptions who wanted to, I didn’t create a character for them so I did the casting before the end of writing the script so that they could be as comfortable as possible.. Verdict in theaters from May 1.
