A gendarmerie motorcyclist died on duty this Friday, April 26 in the middle of the afternoon. He was hit by a car during a traffic stop.
A gendarme from the motorized platoon of Saint-Loup-Hors (Calvados) died in a road accident which occurred this Friday, April 26, in the middle of the afternoon. The soldier was hit by a car during a control operation on the RN 13, near Bayeux. The very violent collision occurred between exits 37 and 37.1, southwest of the Bayeux area, according to information revealed by France Bleu.
The 51-year-old victim died instantly. In a state of shock, the driver of the vehicle which hit the motorcyclist was taken care of by the firefighters and a psychological assistance unit was set up. An investigation is currently underway to establish precisely the circumstances of this fatal accident.
Currently, traffic is interrupted in the area of the accident. Traffic jams formed over several kilometers, between Carcagny and Tour-en-Bessin.
