It was in large numbers that the gendarmes and firefighters mobilized on the RN13 at the exit Cherbourg-Isigny-sur-Merin the afternoon of this Friday April 26, 2024.
Died instantly
If the circumstances of the accident have not been specified, because “an investigation is underway”, the soldiers of the Bayeux gendarmerie have confirmed a collision between a vehicle and a gendarme from the Saint-Loup-Hors motorized platoon.
The latter, seriously injured, did not survive to the accident. “He died instantly,” reveals a gendarme, shaken by the tragedy. “I have been serving here for four years, I have never experienced a fatal accident like this,” he says sadly.
The blocked road
Many heavy goods vehicles remained stuck on the RN13. The gendarmerie acts as a barrier to prevent vehicles from passing. Traffic should resume around 6 p.m.
