After the Taton affair, Georges-Louis Bouchez points out a problem of domiciliation for two socialist representatives: rightly so?

First of all, there is the former Walloon minister, Christie Morreale, who lived in Esneux in the province of Liège where she was also a candidate in 2018 for the municipal elections. From now on, she will be a candidate in Liège where she owns an apartment and is domiciled there. Her partner will be a candidate on the socialist list in Esneux and will therefore continue to live there. Questioned about this situation, Christie Morreale explained that she owned an apartment in Liège in the Sainte Marguerite district and that for the past two years, she had been living there on weekends. Since Christie Morreale and her partner are not married, they are not required to live under the same roof. Unlike a married couple, and legal cohabitants, they are therefore considered as single people by the tax authorities and each receive a tax return.

From Gerpinnes to Thuin

The second case highlighted by the MR president concerns Natacha Blanchart. Based in Loverval (commune of Gerpinnes in Hainaut), she decided to return to live in her hometown of Thuin. A town where her father, the former MP Philippe Blanchart, who died a few years ago, had been acting mayor. Coincidence or not, during the June election, the score she achieved just in Thuin preceded her desire to come and strengthen the local PS list, abandoning the one in Gerpinnes where she had nevertheless been announced. Natacha Blanchart has taken back the family home, but for the moment she is living with her grandmother. Here the situation is less clear since it would seem that her husband is still living in Loverval, according to our colleagues at Sudpresse. Married, the couple is nevertheless required to live under the same roof.

The two women clearly had no problem being domiciled in their respective new municipalities. The MR president considers that since the power in place in these municipalities is socialist, things are simpler – let us point out that in Liège, where Christie Morreale is domiciled, the MR is in the majority.
