Four new games have just been released on Nintendo Switch Online for September 2024 – they are Battletoads Double Dragon, Big Run, Cosmo Gang the Puzzle and Kunio-kun no Dodgeball da yo Zen’in Shugo.
All of these titles represent the SNES era. However, with the exception of Battletoads Double Dragon, the others were originally developed for the Super Famicom.
Battletoads Double Dragon – The warriors of Double Dragon team up with the steely toad trio Battletoads to form the ultimate team in this 1993 beat-’em-up! Face off against the evil twins Billy and Jimmy Lee as they team up with Zitz, Rash and Pimple to defend Earth from the combined might of the Black Queen and Shadow Boss! Jump from the Battlecopter on the tail of the Colossus ship and blast your way through monstrous enemies and deadly obstacles using the Battletoads’ arsenal of “Smash Hits” or the Dragons’ “Dragon Force” moves – each offering incredible attack combos, including kicks, punches, grabs and more! You’ll also have to test your driving skills with the Speeder Bike and high-speed Space Pod. How will this fight for Earth’s future end?
Big Run – Race across the vast landscapes of Africa – from Tripoli to Dakar – across nine stages in this racing game originally released on the Super Famicom in 1991. This monumental task involves more than just stepping on the accelerator! First, you’ll need to choose a sponsor and use the funds to hire staff. Then, you’ll need spare parts to replace tires and engines when they become damaged or worn out. The glory of victory awaits if you can combine precise tactics and daring driving to survive the brutal racing conditions that stand between you and your goal.
Cosmo Gang the Puzzle – The Cosmo Gang take on falling block puzzles in three different modes in this 1993 action-puzzle game, originally developed for the Super Famicom. Focus on clearing blocks to get the highest score in 1P mode, play competitive battles in VS mode, and put yourself to the test in 100 Stage mode, where you’ll have to solve strategic challenges on each level. In each mode, you progress by clearing containers and Cosmos that fall from the top of the screen. Containers can be cleared by lining up six horizontally, and Cosmos disappear when they hit the blue orbs that occasionally drop down. While the two types of blocks clear in different ways, see if you can pull off a combo by clearing both types at the same time!
Kunio-kun no Dodgeball da yo Zen’in Shugo – This sports game, released on the Super Famicom in 1993, stars Kunio-kun (who you may recognize from the River City series!) and his spectacular dodgeball moves. Take to the field and compete against teams from different countries using a variety of powerful jumps, passes, and shots to become the best dodgeball team in the world. Plus, each level has hidden tricks to discover, so your matches can take unexpected turns! Build your ideal team, upgrade them with in-game items, and train your teammates to be the best they can be. Can you conquer the dodgeball championship?
