Fabulous, masterful, unforgettable: this show lasting approximately three and a half hours without intermission will remain engraved in my memory forever.
My colleagues, my friends and my family will tell you: I am a Swiftie and I couldn’t wait to attend. I counted the days until I got there. I even had a countdown on the home page of my cell phone.
I apologize to everyone whose ears I have upset over the past year. It will have been worth it, I guarantee it.
The excitement started in March 2023 when I was the lucky one who won tickets to see the concert in New Orleans.
Nothing predestined me to go to Louisiana. But honestly, I would have gone anywhere for the chance to attend the Eras Tour. It is so difficult to get your hands on a precious pair of tickets. Not going to the show was never on my mind, especially since I hadn’t gotten a code to buy tickets for the performances in Toronto and Vancouver. In addition, the price of resale tickets is completely inaccessible.
Once the tickets were in my pocket, it was obvious that I was going to travel all the kilometers necessary to attend the show.
I prepared carefully to attend the concert. My sister and I made friendship bracelets (friendship bracelets) to be able to exchange with others Swifties. It’s a tradition at the Eras Tour. People exchange bracelets with song lyrics or jokes understood by the Swifties.
In addition to a sequined dress, I wore shoes in the colors of the Eras Tour thanks to the talent of one of my friends.
I was ready from head to toe.
It’s hard to put into words how I felt a few minutes before entering the stadium. A dose of adrenaline invaded me. It was finally the moment we had been waiting for.
Although I had already seen the show in theaters when it was released in October 2023 and had watched segments of the concert countless times on social media and on Disney+, I was captivated by the performance in direct.
Of Miss Americana & the Heartbreak Prince to KarmaI sang at the top of my lungs in the company of nearly 60,000 Swifties fans at Caesars Superdome.
It is not a simple show that is offered by Taylor Swift, it is a musical, theatrical and athletic performance, which will mark the history of music.
As soon as she steps on stage, the decibels in the stadium literally explode. I didn’t believe 60,000 people could scream that loud. Honestly, I still get chills. I am generally a calm and down to earth person. When the famous singer made her entrance onto the huge stage, I must admit that my legs were shaking.
I couldn’t pinpoint a favorite moment. I can’t choose since everything is excellent from start to finish. The moments I was most looking forward to: Cruel Summer, Fearless, All Too Well 10 minutes version, Don‘t Blame Me, champagne problems, august, my tears ricochet, The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived, Style or Bejeweled certainly did not disappoint me. Okay, okay, let’s be honest, I was looking forward to the whole show…
Accompanied by several dancers, backing vocalists and musicians, Taylor Swift leaves it all on stage night after night. I attended her last show in Louisiana, and yet there was nothing to suggest that she had performed the previous two evenings. Note that this tour began in March 2023. Nearly two years on tour is not nothing.
Small interesting fact which demonstrates the scale of the tour. At the end of the Eras Tour, the singer will have delivered the song All Too Well 10 minutes version on 152 occasions, which equates to approximately 25 hours spread across the Americas, Europe, Asia and Oceania.
It was the greatest artistic performance I have witnessed. But that’s not all.
This show brings people together. And I found it beautiful. Especially in a context where American society is increasingly divided a few days before the presidential elections. All the spectators, regardless of their ages, origins, gender identities or nationalities, spoke to each other and celebrated the phenomenal talent of this artist. There were as many young children as there were grandparents.
As soon as I connected at the Atlanta airport, the frenzy of the Eras Tour was felt. I met some Swiftieswe talked about the concert, our theories for the surprises songs and we exchanged bracelets. Sweaters bearing the image of Taylor Swift could be seen all over the airport. In particular, I met people from North Carolina, Alberta and Texas. Everyone was smiling from ear to ear at the idea of attending the concert in the coming hours.
A warm welcome for the Swifties
This excitement was only the beginning. As soon as we arrived in New Orleans, it was possible to see the warm welcome given to the Swifties. Several stores were promoting friendships bracelets or objects bearing the image of the famous artist. Store windows sometimes displayed song lyrics. Some cars were also transformed over a weekend into Getaway Carto echo the song from the album Reputation.
The show was for everyone. Many of the locals, waiters and even flight attendants asked us for our opinion on the concert.
Bourbon Street was also taken over by Swifties and the Skeleton House, located on Avenue Saint-Charles, attracted crowds thanks to its original decorations highlighting the different eras of the singer.
American media report that Taylor Swift’s visit to New Orleans brought in nearly $500 million for the city.
In two weeks, she will perform at the Rogers Center in Toronto. If I could, I would go back without any hesitation.
The tourism organization Destination Toronto also forecasts conservative benefits of nearly $300 million for the city. However, Taylor will be there for six evenings. The impact on the Canadian metropolis should therefore be very significant.
The Eras Tour, this record-breaking tour, is coming to an end. There are only 11 shows left on the calendar. They will take place in Indianapolis, Toronto and Vancouver.
I’m already nostalgic.
It was rare, I was there, I remember it all too well.
