Swedish “child soldiers” are being recruited by Danish and Swedish criminal gangs to commit murders on Danish soil. This phenomenon, observed for several months, has provoked strong reactions in the two Scandinavian countries, which see in its development a galloping globalization of criminal networks.
On the broken window, the list of products for sale at Sol Kiosk is displayed: coffee, hot dogs and sandwiches. But no customers. The metal shutter of the convenience store remains desperately lowered. “We are still closed but we should open as soon as possible,” can be read on a note stuck to the glass door, wet from the pouring rain on this autumn afternoon.
It was here in the Østerbro district, close to the main roads on the outskirts of Copenhagen, that on the evening of August 6, a man fell off his bike in front of the kiosk. The owner of the shop, who witnessed the accident, went out to help him when a loud explosion sounded behind him. Smoke was coming out of the shattered windows of the kiosk, according to the owner who testified the next day on Danish national television.
