The man, aged 60, was injured in the head on Tuesday April 16 by the fall of a piece of metal beam at his workplace, the Forvia automobile parts factory, in Caligny, near Flers. . Six firefighters responded to the scene shortly after the accident, around 3 p.m. The victim, then still alive, was airlifted to the Caen hospital center. The man died there this Wednesday morning.

Forvia specializes in the production of mechanisms for automobile seats. The company employs 1,200 people at its Caligny site, opened in 2009.
