We, the heads of state and government of the Group of Seven (G7), unequivocally condemn in the strongest possible terms the direct and unprecedented attack carried out by Iran against Israel. Iran launched hundreds of drones and missiles towards Israel, but with the help of its partners, Israel managed to repel the attack.
We express our solidarity and support for Israel and its people, reaffirming our commitment to their security.
Through its actions, Iran has crossed a new threshold in the destabilization of the region, at the risk of provoking an uncontrollable regional escalation. This should be avoided. We will continue to work to stabilize the situation and avoid any further escalation. In this spirit, we call on Iran and its proxies to cease all attacks and stand ready to take action now in response to further destabilizing initiatives.
We will also strengthen our cooperation to end the crisis in Gaza, including continuing to work for an immediate and lasting ceasefire, the release of hostages by Hamas, and the provision of increased humanitarian aid to Palestinians in need.
