Sylvain Luc, from Bayon from a family of musicians and who became a genius guitarist, a reference in the world of jazz, died at the age of 58, on the night of Wednesday March 13 to Thursday March 14.

This musician, who has played with the greatest, recorded his first album Piaia and revealed himself to the world of jazz thanks to this first album. Sylvain was the gifted one of the family, with one brother an accordionist, the other a drummer. He also played with Catherine Lara, Charles Aznavour, Michel Jonasz, and toured all over the world. And when Michael Legrand needed a guitarist, he constantly called on the Bayonnais. He was also one of the only musicians to be familiar with Michel Legrand, because according to the latter, “they spoke the same music”. Jean-Claude Mailly and Gorka Robles told his story in 2019 on France Bleu Pays Basque.

In 2023, his last solo album was dissected by our colleagues at France Musique, who will also pay tribute to him during a special program this Thursday at 6 p.m. Sylvain Luc has for years shared his music on his personal website, found here.
