Aix-en-Provence inaugurates its municipal police operational mobile post

The mayor of Aix-en-Provence Sophie Joissains inaugurated the Municipal Police Mobile Operational Station on Friday. This PMO can be stationed at different sites in the city but also be mobilized for major events or crisis situations.

“This new local system will allow the people of Aix to carry out the same procedures more directly and more simply as at the main post on the Cours des Minimes.” This is what the city of Aix indicates in its press release.
Concretely, the objectives of the PMO are clear: “to develop community policing, occupy the field and maintain permanent contact with the population. It is intended to be deployed on a daily basis in the neighborhoods and villages of the municipality”.

For Mayor Sophie Joissains, “ The Mobile Operational Post has two ambitions. The first is security, tranquility for everyone. And the second is a need for proximity which is one of the major axes of this mandate ».
Currently, 10 implantation sites are being tested (for half-days). Last Friday, for example, the municipal police’s Mobile Operational Post was first stationed on the Encagnane market before moving to the Puyricard market square.
This device is permanently connected to the urban security center (CSU), and can be mobilized during major events and demonstrations, or in crisis situations, the city specifies.
