With 23.61%, the Renaissance candidate and Secretary of State for the City came third in the first constituency of Bouches-du-Rhône.

This is one of the big losers of the dissolution. She narrowly qualified for the second round in the 2022 elections with 395 more votes than the NUPES candidate who came third. Two years later, Sabrina Agresti-Roubache missed the boat. The Secretary of State for Citizenship and the City only obtained 23.61% of the votes in the 1st constituency of Bouches-du-Rhône.

This close friend of the Macron couple comes third behind the National Rally candidate Monique Grisetti (45.54%) and the Place publique candidate, Pascaline Lécorché (26.90%). An unprecedented result in a constituency dominated by the right and the center since 2007.

In front of a few activists with serious faces, faced with these results, the Secretary of State announced her withdrawal on Sunday evening. “Obviously, I am withdrawing, she says. It’s not even imaginable that I could maintain myself.” According to Sabrina Agresti-Roubache, “the choice was clear: 45% for the National Rally, and 27% for the New Popular Front”.

“In my constituency, not a single vote for the extreme right”, she added to the applause of these supporters. The minister then announced that she would contact Pascaline Lécorché to discuss the continuation of the campaign. “For all the candidates who are holding on and who could bring the far right and the RN through, I really invite them, this evening, to think”, warned the Secretary of State again. In Aix-en-Provence, outgoing LREM MP Anne-Laurence Petel announced that she intended to remain, despite her third place behind the New Popular Front and the RN far ahead.

«A tsunami»

Two years after her first candidacy against Sabrina Agresti-Roubache, Monique Grisetti managed to double her score in this constituency which includes the eastern districts of Marseille. “We faced a tsunami”estimated the outgoing MP. “I feel bad for my France, commented the Secretary of State. It breaks my heart to see this, in the first constituency which overall has always been on the right. There, the score is clear. Now it’s up to us to organize ourselves.”

“The Marseillaises and the Marseillais must look at each other this evening, she cried. They are, for many, children of immigrants. And if their parents had had to face 45% of RN at the time when they came to settle in France, not to enjoy, to work and become French, we would never have become French.”
