The drama unfolded during the night, around 6:20 a.m., this Tuesday, January 21. A TER which linked Périgueux to Bordeaux hit a man who was probably on the rails.
-The man did not survive the shock, he died instantly. His age and nationality are currently unknown. On board the train, the driver, a 36-year-old man, was taken care of by emergency services before being handed over to SNCF teams.
Suicide or accident, an investigation was opened by the national police to shed light on the circumstances of the tragedy.
The accident caused major disruptions on this axis which connects the Dordogne to Bordeaux station. The station was blocked while firefighters intervened.
Traffic was also interrupted on five lines: between Bordeaux and Sarlat, La Rochelle, Périgueux, Angoulême and Libourne. On these routes, delays or even cancellations are to be expected, warns the SNCF, which indicates that traffic could return to normal around 9 a.m.
